With a title like “Pornografia” one probably gets a lot of preconceived ideas what the movie is about. Although there are a few sexy parts in this movie, it probably isn’t what one belief it would be about. It is a movie (based on a book) about two guys, Fryderyk and Witold, during the war.

The movie takes spot during World War II but is not about the war. Although times of war are not normal by any means, life went on during them. People lived as normal of a life as they could and this movie, to some extent, captures that.

Fryderyk and Witold leave late the artsy crowd of intellectuals in Warsaw they normally hang out with to visit a friend in the country. There, they meet his exquisite young daughter and rob a liking to her. They gain a wager among themselves that they can have her become involved in Karol, the hired young man who helps tend the farm. It isn’t an easy task as she has a fiancée but that only makes it more inspiring for them.

I have to admit I really like Jan Jakub Kolski’s films. Although “Pornografia” is a bit different than Kolski’s other films, it does have a few things in popular with his other work. It has end up scenes of nature (animals or insects) and his wife plays a leading role. They also have a quality to them that can only be described as splendid.

What makes the film sharp is its play on the senses in this psychological drama. On the one hand, the film is artistic and resplendent, and on the other, it is almost mystical. Together, they provide a truly astounding cinematographic experience. “Pornografia” is dramatic and at times emotional, but always filled with an intangible mysterious flair.

You never know what to query from a foreign film. Most of “Made in USA” flicks are quite predictable. Here you’d inquire that at least the name of it will give you some view what it is all about. Not so.

There are practically no sex, no nudity at all, and definitely no pornography in this movie. It is extremely stupid and extremely dazzling. Have a drink and some quality dead food with it (not popcorn or chips – say, frozen raspberries and very bitter chocolate) . It is mesmerizing watching all these sounds and visions of Polish countryside, Polish archaic farts drinking and smoking and talking (not worthy) and drinking again. There are some delicate young bodies but they are trim and decent and underexposed and made more tidy this plan. Somewhere after long watching I got bored of meditation and lost interest and as soon as it happened – the demonstrate came to a quick and (literally) bloody raze.

They have a holocaust parallel theme but it is not “into your face” so it is wouldn’t overkill as many films do with it now.

Take your time and try to behold it in one share (remember, it is more than 2 hours) .

The Criterion/Home Vision edition of this amazing film is definitely the one to maintain. It is taken from a pristine print and the sound quality is amazingly vibrant for a film that is over sixty years ragged. The other available versions are all from feeble public domain prints that are better left observe unseen and note the passe truism “you earn what you pay for.”

I have always been a fan of Leslie Howard: his delightfully cynical Higgins was no surprise. The proper revelation for me was Wendy Hiller as Eliza. I was previously primarily familiar with her later roles, such as Paul Scofield’s wife in A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS. She is absolutely brilliant in this film.

If you are a fan of MY Blooming LADY, this is a must-have motion represent.

Until now, Criterion has been recognized as the undisputed leader in film resoration for transfer to DVD. With PYGMALION, they perform a very disappointing stumble. The package states that this is a “splendid novel transfer, with digitally restored image and sound”. I’m definite this is what they intended, but the product does not believe either restored image or sound. It is, on the whole a grand print, though not at all up to the normal Criterion quality. It is – in places – poor. And the sound is all over the way. Yes, it can be heard, but because of a dreadful audio mix, one has to raise and lower the volume with almost every scene. Criterion remains by far the best distributor of DVDs, but they should be told by their consumers that in this case, the product is plainly not deserving of the Criterion name.

4) The tray configuration leaves some discs uncovered, unless the whole awkward mess is stored together…a plight which will secure worse when the trays inevitably separate.

The lone advantage is the bonus disc. Most of the features on the disc appear to have been meant for, and for some reason never made it onto, the novel releases of seasons 4 – 7. That doesn’t mean they’re not worth watching; some of them are quite suitable. Of the three unusual features, the best offers interviews with several of the series’ writers and producers. (However, it only tangentally deals with its supposed subject — introduced by John DeLancie — about Star Trek’s cultural impact.) Less successful is the roundtable of visual effects wizards; it has inspiring moments, but it did not interpret enough for a layman, nor did it go into enough detail for an expert. The Will Wheaton-hosted “Legacy” looks at how Star Mosey ideas have shown up at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, but it’s delicate vapid (not Wheaton’s fault) .

To be impartial, I’m torn. I’m ecstatic to have the bonus disc (the features on Q and Lwaxana were touching) but fragment of me wishes I’d purchased the previously released conglomeration of individual seasons, “Star Poke The Next Generation – The Complete Seasons 1-7″. The imprint of that station has decreased to compete with this unusual, and somewhat inconsiderate, release…and the packaging of the customary residence is far easier to deal with.

This TV series is fine as many reviewers will affirm you. I have the “silver box” residence of all seven seasons, so I was appealing what this unusual space had that was different. Per my review of the details at www.startrek.com the only differences are: (1) the recent green slimmer packaging for the 7 seasons, and (2) one more disk (#49) with modern features. All the other disks #1-48 are the same as the “silver” boxes—ie. all the episodes and all the same extra features for each season. This original situation is tranquil fullscreen and has the same audio options. It is not HD as some may have hoped. Therefore, if you already have the 7 seasons, at least for me, it makes no sense to pick this region unbiased to derive one extra disk!

If you are a book reader, reading Midnight Sun really helps understand Edward’s reactions and such. This is the best movie I’ve seen that has stayed the closest to the book as powerful as it could. I do understand why they made a few changes to please some of the moviegoers who haven’t read the book. It ties things in a different but acceptable plan. I loved how they interpreted the book. I understand that it was a teen movie so of course there was a miniature cheesiness at times. But hey, the book is geared towards a teen audiences regardless of the wide age range that actually reads it. I judge Summit did a wonderful job and can’t wait for Current Moon.

I read the review the previous “wanna be” professional critic wrote and it’s a bunch of BS. This is by far a one of the best movies made. Can’t wait for Unusual Moon. I’ve never read the books and I’m not a teenager. This isn’t theater, it’s entertainment. If you want theater, go to broadway. As for entertainment, it was gargantuan. I deem most of the nation will agree with me. I’ve heavenly powerful learned what the critics cherish, sucks. I mean really, how many awards did the movie “Sideways” gather? My husband and I watched it and ended up turning it off, it was by far one of the worst, most depressing, listless movies I’ve ever seen! I’ve learned if the critics disapprove it, I’ll savor it and vice versa. You won’t regret seeing this movie, it’s awesome.

I watched this rude budget “blaxploitation” movie from a DVD site that also included three other blaxploitation films. The tale is that of a younger dismal man(Fisk) who lives in a dirty and hazardous section of town. One day, he is given an opportunity by Mr Logan(the local mob leader), to fabricate a whole lot of cash by kicking some booty in street fighting contests. After becoming mildly successful, he is shaken down by Hienrick(a dirty cop) . Already stressed by the business of fighting, once he discovers that his whino friend has been murdered, he decides that he wants out. Of course, that comes with a notice. So one day, when his best friend is about to acquire Fisk’s wife home, the car suddenly explodes and kills both of them. So now Fisk is after Mr. Logan, Hienrick, and whoever else he felt that was alive to in the murdering of his wife and best friend. The movie is shot entirely on residence(in the seedier areas of Los Angeles) ; so the ambiance of the movie feels gritty and realistic. Although a crude budget flick, the acting is realistic and intense. I found the dialogue to be racially realistic. The movie, being a 70’s improper budget flick, looks and sounds grainy. The ending, I found, is quite disappointing. Overall an delectable movie experience if you can catch the movie on DVD for under $10 dollars.

I first saw this in the movies when it first came out as “bogard” and it was rated x,the box had a unrated title but after viewing it it was the same r rated version that has been out for years.as i select there was about 10 -15 minutes from the unusual movie prick out to give it a r rating so it played as all the other versions out there with different names.if you can come by the new version it may say x but it should have been rated traditional as there was no trusty sex in the film.They should remaster it as the color looks like a vhs or “beta ” tape.

This is by far the worst editing I have seen. You will luxuriate in if you suffer from schizophrenia or suffer from Attention Deficit Disorder, since no single video clip lasts for more than 1 second. Had this series been produced as a feeble documentary it would have been inviting, but so remarkable for that thought. I sat through three episodes before I could no longer stand it and turned it off. Thank God it was a rental. DO NOT Acquire THIS DVD 1) you will regret it and 2) you will always here me saying “I told you so!”

I gave the 2nd season of Californication 4 stars out of 5. I read the reviews that were posted and I will agree that this season isn’t as “ample” as the first season. The first season gave the audience something they are definitely not ancient to seeing, the character of Hank Touchy. Despite all the negative that Testy creates, the audience can’t relieve but drop in worship with him in the first season.

I don’t feel that the 2nd season tried to be as humorous as the first. That’s what made the 1st season so savory, nonstop laughs in every episode. This season is far more dramatic and has a set that starts to obtain, instead of the sex, drugs, and comedy that season 1 was about. Ever since I was a child, this magical Disney classic has always captured my imagination. The extraordinary songs by the Sherman brothers, the astounding mixture of live-action and animation, and the magical special effects earn this timeless film attractive to viewers of all ages. The casting was substantial, especially David Tomlinson, who was also terrific in “Mary Poppins” and “The Like Bug”. My two approved scenes in this are the hilarious soccar match and the “battle” at the kill between the knights and the German soldiers. By the plan, the scene where the “flying” dress lands on Roddy McDowall is the only scene (that I know of) where you can clearly peek the wires attached to a flying object or person in the movie. This is easily one of Angela Lansbury’s best performances, and it’s one of the best films directed by the mountainous Robert Stevenson (Disney’s greatest director ever in my humble notion) . I was a small disappointed by the “special edition” dvd. It claims to have a featurette on the making of the film, but the featurette focuses only on the film’s music. I was hoping for a documentary explaining the real making of the film, especially the incredible special effects. At least the movie has been wonderfully restored and is very well-priced. This mountainous film is highly recommended for Disney fans.

In 1971, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, a film many call a Mary Poppins rip-off, premiered at Radio City Music Hall, but in a version in which nearly half an hour of footage, including rotund songs, was removed. For its 25th Anniversary in 1996, Disney re-inserted all of the deleted footage except for one musical number in which the portray was lost. The Academy Of Motion Represent Arts And Sciences screened this in 1996, but it didn’t find a theatrical release, and for years, the only plot Americans could secure it was either by the 1997 laserdisc release, an import of a European video, or by catching it on occasion on the Disney Channel.

Finally, in 2001, for the film’s 30th Anniversary, Disney released a DVD with this extended version of the film. Restored and remastered, the film now has a clearer station, extended musical numbers, and songs previously deleted. The gleaming “Portobello Road” number is now restored to its fresh running time, as well as Miss Price’s response verses, titled “Don’t Let Me Down” during Mr. Browne’s song “Eglantine,” and the previously entirely deleted songs “With A Flair” and “Nobody’s Problems” are restored to the film.

The DVD is a mixed bag. The transfer is quite nice, but Lowry Digital, who did the unique Mary Poppins, Bambi, and Cinderella DVD restorations, could punch it up a shrimp, as on occasion, I saw a bit of grain, and the occasional film artifact, especially during the closing credits and Walt Disney Pictures logo. However, this film has detached never looked better on home video, so it’s beautiful with me.

The extras could have been better. An precise making-of on the film would have been nice, including footage veteran in the Music Magic featurette. While that featurette does give some nice insight on the restoration, there’s nothing behind-the-scenes about it except for the creation of the music gather. Nothing about the effects, actors, nothing. But it’s worth a discover for info on the film’s 1996 restoration. A larger gallery would have been nice. I do like the inclusion of the two cartoons. And of course, I’m ecstatic to ogle that they have included theatrical trailers.

The best supplement, however, is the deleted song A Step In The Suitable Direction. That song was the catalyst that jump started this restoration project to start with, so there’s a bit of irony here in the fact that they couldn’t get the footage of the song. So the supplement on the DVD, which is ported over from the 1997 laserdisc and was shown after the movie when the Disney Channel aired the restored version, is reconstructed using serene photos of the scene and the recent soundtrack. Hopefully one day, the footage will be found and they will be able to reinstate the number into the film, or at least they’ll settle to include the photo reconstruction a la the restored version of A Star Is Born with Judy Garland.

Some have complained that there isn’t an option to eye the new, shorter version due to its length and/or the abominable dubbing of the voices in deleted scenes. (For distinguished of the non-musical deleted footage, current dialogue soundtracks could not be found, so many of the deleted scenes had to be re-dubbed.) While I engage the restored version despite the dubbing flaws, I consider it would be wise of Disney to release both versions on DVD. Next year is the 35th Anniversary – maybe Disney will manufacture a 2-disc DVD featuring both editions, with bonuses spread out on each disc, to appease all fans. Or better yet, a 3-Disc Collector’s Edition, with discs 1 and 2 containing both cuts of the film and disc 3 with all the supplements. While neither edition is likely, the 2-Disc is a more likely option.

In conclusion, I can heartily recommend this DVD. The film has been lovingly restored and remastered, featuring almost all of the footage left on the cutting room floor in 1971, and features a nice handful of bonuses.

I purchased the individual discs that Sony establish out a few a few years support but was unprejudiced left pining for more. I was pleased when I heard the entire series was being released. Each volume comes in a beautifully decorated solid steel book case and contains five discs per volume, aside from volume 5 which has only four discs.

The episodes all recognize and sound grand and are each shown in their entirety, including the talking logo that was weak when going to and coming assist from commercial breaks. In fact, if I were to have one complaint about the position, it’s that the talking logo grows a bit dreary. With six or seven episodes per disc, and the talking logo showing up about five or six times per episode, you’re looking at having to watch it around thirty to forty times if you win the `play all’ option. I mediate it should have been featured as a bonus gallery. However, that complaint is so minor that it doesn’t occupy anything away from this release.

However, each recount on the dvd has the same characterize for every season. The only true spot I had with the space is I noticed a line of color going down the hide for a few shows but not a major plight. The recount quailty is grainy but watchable, it doesnt spy like they took too worthy time to remaster the site. There is plenty of extra features that are mostly interviews with creators of the exhibit and verbalize actors of the demonstrate, now I found too entertaining.

Overall, this is an suitable region for Ghostbuster fans or fans of cartoons like Scooby Doo. The tin cases are frosty and comes in The Ghostbuster house with a nice book detailing each episode.

(a limited background…I’m not a member of the production company. But I was lucky enough to peek the true DVD movie a week before it was released. I saw the final retail version that is being sold here on Amazon; not the unfinished pre-release that’s been floating around online)

I objective saw this movie and I must say, the characters, storyline, and visual effects are honest awesome!

When I first heard about the movie, I had high expectations and a lot of anticipation. I am delighted to say that the movie does not at all disappoint, and in fact exceeded my expectations.

SG1 has been in some pleasing tough spots in the past, but the hole they dug themselves in this time has to be the worst one yet, and I’m not exaggerating! I spent most of the movie wondering how the heck they were going to effect the day this time. The odds were so stacked against them.

I’ll try to give some character highlights without having any spoilers.

Cam Mitchell does a tremendous job in an unexpected, yarn fight sequence that really shows off the strength of his character.

Carter must work under vulgar pressure once again to try to assign the day.

Daniel practically gives up due to the substantial pressure he’s facing. When you know the history of his character you have to realize impartial how noteworthy he’s up against to be so stuck that even he feels helpless.

Teal’c manages to lope about 1000 miles while being seriously injured.

Vala has some really titanic interactions with Adria, Daniel, and Teal’c.

General Landrey shows his unbelievable strength and conviction face to face with a prior.

Also if you are black that SG1 is leaving the airwaves, have hope: Stargate Atlantis is a very satisfactory series with expedient casting and production execute. They are using great of the same crew (and even some cast crossover) as SG1, and the new SG1 writers are now focusing their attention on making Atlantis gigantic. If you open watching Atlantis, you’ll glean that the empty feeling you have with SG1 leaving the airwaves will be adequately filled and you’ll feel like all is well in the universe.

I have to preface this review with the statement that I am an avid Stargate fan, and as such, my review may be biased (but I judge not!)

After enduring season 4 of Atlantis this year, it is nice to rep relieve to the indicate I truly cherish, Sg-1. Opposed to Atlantis, SG-1 takes area on earth, spends time on the explorations, and takes into tale venerable mythologies, opposed to Atlantis, which is more action oriented, with dumbed down dialog, and shooting anything that moves.

I have been awaiting this release since it was announced, it finally came to my home yesterday, I watched the movie, then the extras (amusing con conference which was really frigid! and a slow the scenes which was mountainous as well (this is almost 1 hour of material), I then watched the movie again, this time with commentary (again, I fancy SG-1) .

This dvd has a “prelude” which basically goes over everything you need to freshen up on to fully like and prepare for this viewing. As someone who has seen each episode of stargate countless times, I found this prelude a astronomical review, as it has been a while since I watched it all.

The movie then follows, and it is a titanic movie. The scenery in this movie is incredible, it looks powerful better than we are former to seeing on the TV point to. The pacing is slower, more akin to when the point to aired on Showtime, which works well, as the aspect of stargate that i luxuriate in most, is the interactions between the characters, the explorations of unique worlds and civilizations, and how everyone reacts to the culture.

This brings the conclusion to a satisfying extinguish. I deem several of the cliffhangers are drawn out a bit great (putting a tad too worthy tension advance the waste), but all in all, I enjoyed the movie.

This reminds me of why I appreciate this reveal, I know they are coming out with another movie soon (this one will have Richard Dean Anderson in it), and word on the streets is, it should advance this July.

I truly hope people are not unprejudiced downloading bootleg copies of this dvd, and I really hope everyone will assume this dvd, and the next one. I really want this note to continue on, if the studios do not accumulate the results they are looking for, this could be the waste.

I really hope the dvds do sell well, maybe they can continue to do movies throughout the year, and maybe even a mini series or another season. There are many aspects of the Stargate world that have gone unexplored, and unfinished.

I hope the producers read this review, and understand that what invent stargate work is not the speedily dialog, the unbelievable interactions, the brilliantly designed enemies, sound perform, artwork, and constant tension, but the exploration of novel worlds, the ability to learn something (old history, perceive passe figures, the Egyptian gods) and the exploration of these foreign cultures. Something Stargate Atlantis completely misses, which is why I do not luxuriate in it as remarkable.
